Duo Security Releases Plan to Add Five Additional Layers of Verification

Online security is more important than ever, and Northeastern heroically protects our noble students through online authentication apps like Duo Security. Fortunately, Duo Security has recently announced plans to add 5 additional layers of security, bringing the total to seven layers. This so-called “SeptoSecurity” plan comes at the heels of a failed rebrand to “Trio” after users complained that three layers was simply not enough.

New measures would include a background check, blood test, saliva swab, urine sample, and more. “Current security only requires knowledge of passwords, access to verified devices, and sometimes face ID,” explains a representative, “However, given current AI technology trends, I think we set the bar a little too low.” These new security measures would need to be completed every time users access Northeastern resources online such as Student Hub, Canvas, and Outlook email. As the representative explains further, “phishing scams and OPSEC breaches are exponentially increasing every day, so it’s only appropriate to require users to pass through the new and improved Duo Security measures every single time they want to access their email. Honestly, I’m dismayed at the flimsiness of our past security measures. We truly need more.”

When inquired about the user response, the representative explained, “Honestly, we think the users will love “SeptoSecurity”. They’ll know their data and information stays secure– in fact, so secure that they themselves may not be able to access it!”
